Accessibility
I want this site to be usable by everyone, including people with disabilities. Here is what has been done, and its limits.
What has been done
- Keyboard navigation: the whole site can be browsed with the Tab key, every active element has a visible outline, and a “Skip to content” link bypasses the menu.
- Screen readers: pages are structured with ordered headings and landmarks (header, main content, footer); every meaningful image has alternative text, decorative images are ignored.
- Readability: text and background contrast meets level AA of the international guidelines (WCAG 2.1), and no text is smaller than 12 pixels on phones.
- Motion: if your device asks for reduced motion, the site turns animations off.
- Zoom: text can be enlarged up to 200% without losing content, and the layout adapts to every screen size.
- Form: every field has a label, errors are announced clearly and nothing relies on colour alone.
- Image viewer: it closes with Escape or the “Close” button and can be browsed with the arrow keys or by swiping.
Known limitations
- The interactive 3D models are handled with a mouse or a finger; their viewpoint buttons work with the keyboard, but the scene itself is not described for screen readers. Each project’s drawings, sections and texts present the same content in an accessible form.
- The downloadable PDF files are layout documents: their content is also on the site’s pages.
Compliance status
The site has been checked page by page with automated and manual tests against WCAG 2.1 level AA. It has not had an official audit, so it is declared partially compliant.
